It’s been a challenging year, and I miss him a lot.</p> <p>His obituary had a great summary of who he was, but if you didn’t know him, you really missed out on a great friend.</p> <p>We miss you, dad.</p> <div class="clearfix" id="obitDetails"> <div class="clearfix" id="obitHeader"> <blockquote> <p><img src="http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lz8j9yjbjm1qzko9u.jpg"/></p> <p><span>Erich W. Lawson, Born on November 25, 1942 in the Silesian Province of Germany. He was forced to flee Germany in the company of his mother and grandmother in 1945, sleeping by day and traveling after nightfall to avoid the advance of the Russian armies. He arrived, after many months journey in Munich, which was under the control of Allied Forces. Erich subsequently immigrated with his mother to Duncan, Oklahoma in 1947. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1960 and began his career in the oilfield industry with Haliburton Oil Services where his mother was employed as an Administrative Assistant. His work took him to North Dakota, Alaska, Louisiana and later to Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and many other locations in South America. He began as a water truck driver, was selected to attend training to become a Mud Engineer and later entered oil services sales. He sold oil services for various U.S. companies for over twenty years and then formed his own oil service company in Quito, Ecuador which proved to be highly successful. Erich was always devoted to his mother and younger sister, aiding both in many ways over the course of their lives, beginning at the age of 10 when he obtained his first paper route. His business activities took him all over the world, especially in South America. He made many friends from a myriad of countries over the course of his life. He enjoyed golf, dining and the company of his family and friends. Erich is preceded in death by his mother Edith Lawson, and his sister Christine Mills. He is survived by his son John Erich, his wife Cristina, his two grandchildren Amanda and Miranda, his daughter-in-law Lizbeth, his niece Catherine Mills and his brother-in-law Jim Mills. Erich passed away on February 11, 2011 at 3:05 AM at the Baylor Medical Hospital in Dallas, TX.
